जर्मन में relative clauses: der, die, das को connectors के रूप में
जर्मन में which, who और that के साथ दो विचारों को कैसे जोड़ा जाए। Relative pronouns संज्ञा के साथ मेल खाते हैं, case clause से आता है, और verb अंत में जाता है।
Relative clauses आपको नया वाक्य शुरू किए बिना अतिरिक्त विवरण जोड़ने देते हैं: the man who lives next door, the book that I bought. जर्मन में इन्हें relative pronouns के साथ बनाया जाता है, जो ठीक articles der, die, das जैसे दिखते हैं — बस कुछ छोटे बदलावों के साथ।
दो नियम pronoun तय करते हैं
Gender और number उस संज्ञा से आते हैं जिसका आप वर्णन कर रहे हैं; case relative clause के अंदर उसकी भूमिका से आता है। Der Mann, der dort wohnt (subject → der). Der Mann, den ich kenne (object → den). वही आदमी, अलग pronoun, क्योंकि clause के अंदर उसका काम बदल गया।
Verb
अगर relative clause में कोई preposition verb के साथ जुड़ा है, तो वह pronoun से पहले आता है: die Frau, mit der ich spreche (the woman I am talking to). जर्मन में prepositions को अंग्रेज़ी की तरह अंत में अलग छोड़ नहीं दिया जाता।
